I help my clients find their own path to sobriety.

I always say that in therapy, you “start where you are.” That’s exactly where I meet my clients for addiction counseling. As a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS), I offer evidence-based therapy modalities to help you find your own path to sobriety.

Addiction Counseling in Apex, North Carolina

When it comes to addiction counseling, one size does not fit all. There are several approaches to working on substance use, and my goal is to help you find what works for you. As a therapist, my approach is to be person-focused instead of problem-focused. I prioritize my clients as whole, wise, and worthy people deserving of honor and care as they journey toward a more fulfilling life.

Many people think that the only answer for addiction is to completely abstain from the substance for good. While this is a helpful path for many, it doesn’t work for everyone. My goal in addiction counseling is not to force a way of life on anyone, but rather help each client get to where they desire to be in their life and in their relationship with substances.

Together, we can explore other options for substance use management, such as harm reduction practices, 12-step programs, or SMART Recovery (an alternative to the 12-steps that does not include spirituality practices.) Often, past traumas influence substance use, and as a trained EMDR trauma therapist, I help clients cope with and heal from trauma, which can, in turn, positively affect their substance issues.
